Tuesday May 12
Pirate King's Song (The Pirates of Penzance) - Gilbert and Sullivan
Performance
What would a week of Bryan's choices be without some Gilbert and Sullivan?
Here is the amazing Australian actor Anthony Warlow as the Pirate King (or is it Jack Sparrow?)
- Pirates of the Caribbean style!
Wednesday May 13
Duet (La Juive) - Fromental Halévy (1899-1862)

Tragedy in the offing! A tale of the Inquisition which takes place in 1414. After a slow section, fireworks start. Princess Euxodie, Anna Moffo, pleads on behalf of her husband with Rachel, Martina Arroyo, to save his life. Rachel and her father are in prison. She needs only to say that Prince Leopold's liaison with her was as a result of her leading him astray to save him - and then only Rachel and her father will face death - (by being cast into boiling cauldrons!). This from one of the grandest of grand operas, hugely popular in the 19th century, now not very well-known. Leopold is saved, as for Rachel and her father ...!
Thursday May 14
Lascia ch'io pianga (Rinaldo) - Handel
